The U9 put on a good performance in their last league match of the season. Joseph Marder who was captain for this match won the toss and decided to bat first. William and Dhuv got brentwood off to a good start and then a very good performance from Joshua and Hayden, scoring eight boundaries between them, took the total onto 256 after eight overs. Some good bowling in the middle of the innings from Herongate took a few wickets and reduced our score to 251 before George Grevatt and Joseph came in as the final pair and added a further 34 runs to set Herongate 285 to win.
Herongate got off to a solid start, but then some good fielding resulting in three run outs, two well taken catches on top of a further 6 wickets clean bowled, kept Herongate behind the target and finished on 258. William Bailey bowled particularly well, taking three wickets, and one wicket each for Max, Hayden, Joshua, Soumil, Priyan and Daniel. Our fielding was much sharper today, with good backing up on the throw and all the boys making an effort to walk in as the bowler was releasing the ball and some tidy wicket keeping from George.
