Braden was captain for the day. Brentwood batted first. Hayden and William batted very nicely and put on 26 in the opening spell. Fraser and Soumil ran well and managed to put on another 21. Braden and Hritik both hit powerfully to take the score on to 275. George and Joe batted very sensibly to take us to 286. Daniel and Aaryan made the most of some wayward bowling at the death and Brentwood finished on 312 for 3!
For the Springfield innings, all looked good when William took 2 wickets in the first over. However, Springfield had a couple of strong strikers of the ball and combined with a lot of extras (not helped by a wet ball) the score kept creeping up. Springfield's running between the wickets was pretty suicidal resulting in quite a few runouts, which helped Brentwood stay in the game. With 2 overs left Springfield had overtaken Brentwood on 314 with Springfield's best batsman at the crease. Brentwood did not give up, and excellent overs from William and Hritik resulted in 2 wickets leaving Springfield needing 4 to win off the final ball. They could not manage it and finished on 310 for 10!
The boys were, understandably, very happy with the result - Well Done team!
