Match report Peter Coe cup Brentwood U13 home to Saffron Walden 9/6/13

Brentwood batted first and after a positive start lost two quick wickets. As a result the middle order needed to rebuild the innings. This was accomplished by James Bainbridge and George Bull and then by George Bull and Jack Payne. A period of cautious batting saw Brentwood progress steadily in the face of some excellent fielding from the Saffron Walden boys. By saving their wickets Brentwood were able to accelerate in the last 6 overs of their allotment, finishing with a creditable 152 for 5. Top scorers were Jack Paine 46, G Bull 30, S Sra 16 and James Bainbridge 11. 

Brentwood bowled and fielded very tightly at the start of Saffron’s innings ensuring that they fell further and further behind the required asking rate. As a result Brentwood were able to ensure that all 10 outfielders bowled whilst restricting Saffron Walden to 122 for 8 at the end of their 30 overs. The pick of the bowlers was Sajjan Sra with 4 wickets. Another victory based upon the ability of all 11 players to make significant contributions in all three disciplines.
