Match Report

BCC 153 for 4 Finlay Denny 46; Dan Preston 50
S'field 98 for 5 Chay Pottinger 34
BCC won by 55 runs

BCC won toss and elected to bat in conditions more akin to late November than 'flamin' June - it was'arctic' June.
Openers Finlay and Dean (Ahmed) got BCC off to a brisk start before Dean top-edged and was well caught at deep square leg with the score on 36 off 4 overs.  Kieran came and went  four balls later in the same over, without troubling the scorers. Finlay was joined by Dan and these two were to dominate the bowling with some fine shots for the next 14 overs. Dan is in fine form (after a slow start to the season) helped his 65 yesterday, playing in the 4th team. Finlay too showed good promise with good solid performance, and was unlucky to miss out on his 50 falling just 4 runs short in the eighteenth over in a stand of 94 (130-3). Dan was joined by Chris Maddison and finished unbeaten on 50 in the 20th, with the score on 153 -4, Chris being bowled off the last ball for a brisk 15.

Capt, Kieran, rotated the bowling and apart from the odd boundary Springfield found the 8 bowlers used hard to attack and they never looked like achieving the target despite a good knock from Chay Pottinger (coming in at a lowly No.5) who got to 34 in short time before holing out in the final over. There were two outstanding bowling performances for special mention - Ed Lindsay 2-5 off three overs and Tom Wingrove 1-4 off two overs. Mention too for Aaron Doyle who bowled well.
