Match Report |
In perfect cricketing weather, The Brentwood Whirlwinds fielded a strong U9 side. Springfield have beaten us 3 times already this season so we really wanted to turn that around. We won the toss and put Springfield into bat. Everyone in the team contributed to the best bowling we have seen so far from the U9s. PJ had 2 great overs - only giving away 3 runs and taking our first wicket. That was followed by Henry Deacon who had a fantastic first over taking 3 wickets - well done Henry! Freddie is becoming our regular wicket keeper in the U9s and doing a great job. Brentwood could have had more wickets but dropped at least half a dozen catches - something we all agreed that we need to work on in training. Some great fielding from Harry, after dropping a catch, still got his throw on target to take a wicket. Springfield scored 270 runs. Brentwood started well in bat with everyone contributing to the runs. It went down to the final over with Brentwood on 276. Springfield put their fastest bowler on for his third over to try and gain a wicket. Unfortunately for Brentwood, they lost the wicket and went down to 270 runs. Hritik and Brady hung on for the last few balls to secure an excellent and well deserved draw. Well done to all the boys today - this was by far our best performance and a very exciting game. Brentwood Whirlwind 270 - Springfield - 270.
Team - PJ (captain), Henry Deacon, Rohan Banka, Will Reed, Harry Larner, Freddie Wise, Archie Van Klink, Ben Brown, Hritik Kapoor and Braden Doyle.
