Match Report |
Brentwood team were stronger all round and won the match comfortably. Following a good session in the nets on Friday Brentwood's 7 bowlers all showed some good quality with just a couple of wayward overs that included wides and no balls. Bit of advice the next time its very hot - wipe all the sun cream off your hands before going out to play. Lewis Arthur picked up a couple of wickets, including a brilliant caught and bowled; Alex Berry bowled 4 very tight overs picking up two wickets along the way; Toby 'sun cream hands' Gifford, bowled some unplayable deliveries, all backed by Matt Fox, Teddy Mortlock, Luke Brailey (3 overs for 3 runs) and James Bainbridge. The team got back to their excellent ways and took some very good catches, Luke Brailey picking up 3, but the ground fielding might be something to work on at a Friday night session.
In reply, Brentwood scored quickly. Both Jack Payne and Andrew Walters looked good before getting out and George Bull and Daniel Peakall saw the team home with overs to spare. George, batted very strongly and, needing 2 to win the game and 5 for his half century hit the winning shot, landing just a few yards short of the long boundary to finish the game on 49 not out.
Thanks to Graham Bonney and Mountnessing CC for the use of their lovely ground and on providing the weather to match !! |
