Galleywood 38 all out in 19th over and Brentwood 39 for no wicket in the 5th over.
Galleywood batted first on a beautiful sunny morning in Brentwood in the U15 Chargers first game of the season in the CEDC Cup. Jonty Peacock and Harry McNair opened with some good quick bowling that picked up one of the openers in the first 6 overs. However with 26 on the board Galleywood were still looking quite strong at this stage and before the real damage was done by the first change pair of bowlers Joe Philpott and Toby Fordham. Each bowling four overs, they proceeded to take the next eight wickets for the addition of nine runs. Toby finishing with figures of 4 overs 2 maidens 3 wickets for 3 runs and Joe - 4 overs 1 maiden 5 wickets for 6 runs. Having taken 2 wickets with his final 2 balls Joe is on a hatrick with the first ball of his next spell. Connor Harrington and Brandon Kelly kept the pressure up on the final pair before Jonty Peacock returned to take his second wicket and finish the innings in the 19th over. In the middle of all this there was some excellent fielding including a very difficult catch by Brandon.
James Bainbridge and Matt Fox then hit the 39 runs required to in the match at the end of the fifth over.
This was an excellent all round team performance, very ably led by the captain and wicket keeper Finley Denny. Well done to everyone
