Brentwood CC Member since: 1976

Paul Webb
ChairmanNickname/s: Webby, Spider, The Chair, Sheikh
Date of Birth: 20th June 1972
Bats: Infrequently, left-handed
Bowls: Right arm, round arm, leg spin...
Specialist Fielding Position: Used to be covers, now slip...
Best Batting: A 36 ball, 0 not out v Ilford, 3rd XI, 26th August 2000. We were 'chasing' 301 and ended up 36-8 thanks to a marvellous 14 over rear-guard by my brother and myself during which we were constantly sworn at and verbally abused. Feel free to ask me for a ball-by-ball run through in the bar! And best of all it meant Ilford got relegated!
Worst Batting: Vs Hainault & Clayhall, 3rd XI, 10th August 2002. Going in to face the last ball of the match with 6 required to win. Having missed the ball I decided to run the 6 instead. I'm convinced I could have done it, but Ash Patel wasn't backing up and the 'keeper already had the ball.
Best Bowling: 8-56 v Hainault & Clayhall, 4th XI, 11 August 2001. Before I'd taken a wicket, their umpire (who was also their captain) told me I was trying too hard and that I should stop trying to bowl too fast. I took his advice and we bowled them out for 99.
Alternative Best Bowling: 6-39 v Walthamstow, 4th XI, 7th June 2003. My first haul bowling leg-spin.
Best Catch: Too many to mention them all but there was a catch I took for the 1st XI away at Buckhurst Hill in August 2012...need I go on...??!
Previous Clubs: None worthy of mention.
Brentwood CC Member since: 1979
Off-field Club Duties: Chairman since 2008.
Awards: Most Improved Player 1991, Clubman of the Year 2000, 2003 and 2012, 4th XI Player of the Year 2001, Presidents Award 2006, Champagne Moment 2012
Little known personal fact: Undisputed boundary-bowls champion, 2003.
Sporting hero(es): Mark Noble.
Hobbies or Interests: My family, good food, good wine and playing golf (usually badly).

Specialist Fielding Position: WK/Slip
Best Batting: 90 for 4th XI away at Ilford 2016 season. Big up Harb Pabla for being a runner!!
Best Bowling: Took 3 wickets in an over in a 6-a-side competition when I was about 10/11 against Buttsbury School in front of a raucous home crowd for Lee Chapel Primary.
Previous Clubs: Hullbridge
Brentwood CC Member Since: 2015
On-field Club duties: Scorer of 20-odd and get out based on last season. Keeping things light-hearted
Off-field Club duties: Dance choreographer
Awards:
Little known personal fact: I have been in 3 bands The Input, Eudemonic & The Filthy Vibe
Sporting hero: Too many to mention. David Beckham was probably my first true idol though
Hobbies or Interests: Any sport..Cricket, football, rugby, baseball, american football, athletics
Worst Moment: Golden duck at Chingford...kit flying around the dressing room...drew the game...confirmed relegation...lashed it down and stuck in traffic driving home...Mrs had the hump when I got in...a great way to end my season last year..
Most Memorable Match: Personally, the aforementioned school match (worrying there hasn't been one since then), I was absolutely flying during the game, a great feeling. As a team, I love any game that is close, win or lose, that competitive pressure is as close as we mortals get to professional sport so it's always a pleasure to be involved in such close encounters.

U15 Spitfires' ManagerNickname/s: Baino.
Date of Birth: 19th August 1965.
Bats: Right-handed.
Bowls: Medium swing.
Specialist Fielding Position: Fine leg.
Best Batting: 42 for the IIIs at Woodford Wells in August 2005. Chasing 290-odd, added over 100 with Ash Pastel after joining him at 100 for 8. My 25-year-old bat split in the course of the boundary frenzy. Ash finished on 119 not out. In fact he was to blame for my dismissal as he had just told me that if we batted sensibly we could win. I naturally responded by swinging across the line and being given lbw by some visually impaired umpire called Ken Lingwood.
Best Bowling: 8 for 27 from 15 overs for the IIIs against Gidea Park in August 2005. GPR had sledged my batting during defeat at their place. I came back from holiday a day early so I could play against them again. Sweet revenge. Included a hat-trick.
Previous Clubs: Longridge, Lincoln Lindum.
Brentwood CC Member since: 2003
On-field Club duties: Making everyone else feel good about their fielding. Helping run sons' colts sides.

Little known personal fact: Sometimes drink lager.
Sporting hero(es): Wasim Akram, Clive Lloyd, Harry Pilling (all great Lancastrians), and, obviously,Tony Prior and Mick Payne (all great old people).
Hobbies or Interests: Ale quality control.
Worst Moment: Away at Woodford Wells III in 2011 when they chased down 280-odd and Brentwood degenerated into a swearing, shameful rabble.
Most Memorable Match: Hat-trick day against GPR.
