The Conference Cup Final for the Bertie Joel Trophy
Camberley CC 227 all out, Brentwood 218-9
In a close match staged at Harefield Cricket Club, Brentwood were beaten by Camberley by nine runs in the Conference Cup final.
Camberley were bowled out in the last of their 45 overs for 227, Tom Holden and Sam Holmes helping them recover from 149-7 with an eighth wicket partnership of 68. Jack Levy took four wickets for Brentwood, Tom Oakley two and there was a wicket apiece for Harry Phillips, Ian Belchamber and Harri Smith.
Brentwood’s reply got off to the worst possible start when skipper Aaron West was dismissed first ball of the innings. Runs from Ed Ballard (28), Will Buttleman (42), Tom Oakley (37) and Jack Levy (27) kept Brentwood in the chase and from 173-8 Gabriel Austin and Harri Smith put on 31 runs to keep their hopes alive but the target was just beyond them in the end despite Austin’s excellent innings of 29 not out.
