Callum’s ton guides Under-16s to Matchplay win

Brentwood CC Under-16s won their opening match in this season’s Matchplay competition with Callum Balsom hitting an unbeaten 117 to guide his team to a 3-wicket win over Goresbrook at the Old County Ground on Sunday.
Batting first, Goresbrook made 202 and although kept Brentwood were always up with the run rate in their reply, they lost wickets at regular intervals. At 137-7, Will Davey joined Balsom and they shared an unbroken stand of 67 that saw Brentwood to a win with more than three overs to spare.
